Stretching as far as I could see, the vast salt plains of the Salar de Uyuni (Salt Flats) was an awesome sight but so bright I had to keep my sunglasses on almost all the time. Out of these fields of salt rose strange shaped islands inhabited by giant cactuses, at least 30 times taller than me, that were hundreds of years old. Whilst on the salt flats we got to stay in a hotel made entirely out of blocks of salt. It was a very unusual place!
