You may have heard on the news!!! We've had some BIG weather here in South East Queensland lately. Several massive thunder storms, with major downpours of rain, near to cyclonic winds, causing quite a lot of damage, power-outage & flooding. Broken the drought though, everyone reckons. Friends in the UK have been calling to make sure we're OK and thankfully we're fine. Those just on the other side of Brisbane just 30-odd kilometres from us have not been treated so kindly by Mother Nature.
At my house though, my host family have been pleased at the rain filling their water-tank and helping get their new lawn established! And the thunder & lightning shows from the verandah have been nothing short of spectacular. Last night, I have to admit being a little bit scared when a storm started and a galeforce wind gushed through the house and smashed some glass sitting on the kitchen bench!
Not just experiencing a new style of weather, but I've been getting introduced to some local cuisine too. Here I am with Joshua, eating toast on Vegemite, apparently an Aussie delicacy. Not quite like Marmite, different texture and taste. Hmmm. I'll reserve judgement I think.
Hope you are well, thinking of you all. I'm having a wonderful adventure.
